horrible banging noise
i have a problem with my 4x4 theres a horrible banging/ clunking noise coming from my transsfer case, and im loosing drive to the front end could this be the result of the chain drive that goes to the front driveshaft output slipping?? is this a known problem for these to fail?

Re: horrible banging noise
It has been known to happen - yes. Although I don't think it's common. I was also present when a Gen 3 stripped some gears in the transfer case - fortunately for him, under warranty.95shorty wrote:i have a problem with my 4x4 theres a horrible banging/ clunking noise coming from my transsfer case, and im loosing drive to the front end could this be the result of the chain drive that goes to the front driveshaft output slipping?? is this a known problem for these to fail?

not 100% but the whole combo would require the free wheeling hubs to be fitted.95shorty wrote:hey guys i've found a gearbox but it turns out that its a base model pajero without the centre diff and it has the free wheeling hubs on the front does anyone know if this box and transfer will work in mine which has the centre diff lock and no free wheeling hubs. please help
Is the gearbox shagged as well as the transfer? if it is just the transfer then whay re you looking to replace both?
