Where was all this talk before the event was cancelled for the year. There was no hint of anyone else building up cars for this event besides us, Fester and Piglet. Now it's cancelled there seems to be a new lot of interest and talk, ashame it's a little late, we could of been winching next weekend

That is correct your vehicle (worse luck) does not comply with production Class rules.
But why not put on a set of 35" and come and play at XWC?
The reason that Lynda cannot compete in Production is due to the vehicle buildup. I was also trying to get a ladies event going with the Production vehicles to make numbers to run an event.
You could always get your partner to drive & you codrive in the ladies section. The ladies event is per XWC Rules & Guidelines but must run 33" wheels. Any ladies that have driven in a XWC must have a lady as a codriver.

But why not put on a set of 35" and come and play at XWC?

well a little disapointed cos the so far the price for a 6 point cage that is approved is $1800 to $3000 4 diffrent shops. One cage was powercoated and the other was car interior had to be stripped and just painted so big range to choose from. This more to the 3 guys piglet, fester and tailspin how much has this cost you by starting from scach this will give me the best idea.

its wallys old wagon that he has had virtually from new, its now cut down into an extra cab, & has been DE-MODDED from nissan club/ touring car to suit production class.
as far as $$$ value goes its hard to say, as lockers ,winch, bar work ect
have all been added slowley as a club car over the last 15years, I know the winch was baught for $500 some time back, & the 2nd hand 6.5 hp motor was $175, the cage we do ourselves, just as we have in all our pigs.
I have herd of many that do them for around $1500
But seriously this rig is nothing special...
Its cheap (because we have had it for so long) & nissans arnt worth much now.
I just baught a GQ sorta wagon for around $5k, but its highly modded, not what you need for production class, Id have to lower it down, get rid of the drop arms, 35s bla bla bla..
I could have baught a factory 1 for $3k & then spend $4k kitting it out & then you have a comp rig that you can tour in for under $10k.....
Just rember we all had to start someware aswell. & yes we have a lot of bolt on stuf from our old cars. BUT I have only ever baught 2nd hand with the majority of my bits & peices.. thats how I keep the $$$ down.

i have been watching this since day one and reckon it is a great idea. it can easily be done on a budget and to a daily driver. we have raced our gqwagon(mods where cage, lockers,fire ext,first aid kit) in the allterrain for a few years and would have loved to have done this but we put gu diffs ,a frame rear etc in it before this was spoken about.met the greatest bunch of people along the way.
people need to realise this isnt an event for million dollar trucks, it is to enjoy the sport and meet other competitor etc. this is how it used to be. daily drivers racing. love how the sport has progressed and feel sorry for MMM as he seems to get constantly attacked for whatever he does.
I cant wait to see festa's rough nut in a truk again. he will entertain the crowds in no matter what he is driving.
me, dad and the kids will be there yelling from the other side of the bunting.

Another thing Ian, all you need for Production is a production vehicle, how simple is that. If it came with it you can use it.
This class was designed for the "road legal" vehicles, and 35" tyres are not road legal and it also depends what brand of 33" tyre you use also.
In Queensland you can only legally use a 32" on 99.75% of common style 4wds.
There is always a class for a vehicle in an Xtreme 4x4 Event, so a poll is not necessary to conduct, and another reason for this comment, it is my event afterall.
So if your vehicle does not comply with "Production" it will comply in the XWC.

Im with Piglet, most blokes and women out there are running 4- 6inch lifts, 35inch tyres. I much send a 1000 buck on winch rope instead of buying another set of smaller tyres. And I cant see a production car getting through a winch challenge on 32inch all terrains and 2'' lift... Thats what mods are for,improving a production cars ability.
These are daily drivers and I don't think people want to go out and brake there truck,they just want to compete in a winch challenge and maybe learn a few things on the way. With the Like of Fester ,piglet and lynda in there production truck im sure the beginners would learn plenty from them.
Bend the rule a bit and you might get more people wanting to come out for a fun day off winching.

but we are seeing what the penilty is ,for letting some young fit,1/2 mountain goat sorta fella ,run all our winch stuff up the hills.while we sit in the car with the air-con going.YOU KNOW!!!!!!!! you dont want to open up the door, it might let all the cold air out

been watching and watching.
To start with i will not be racing this event so am totally sitting on the fence.
But my thought are
We know rules are rules, road legal etc. But it is not happening yet.
I feel sorry for the guys that have built their cars to dave's specs for no reason yet and its no fault of Dave's.
I understand its not Dave's fault that others who said they would race havent built their cars. Not worth running his event with 3 cars.
What if you bent the rules a fraction to let these and other guys have a drive? Except the cage rule..!!!!
Maybe let slightly bigger tyres and lift trucks compete with a penalty? If enough not only say they will race, but actually pay before hand as well.
In these economic times not everyone has plenty to throw at their trucks.
Maybe a few guys would be keen if they didnt have to buy a few more bits straight up, but got to play a bit, loved it decided to invest in the parts to meet the specs in the future.
We would have loved to do this event but after the demise off any standard diesel class at the park we modified ours. not enough to race with the big boys but too far beyond this class which I would of loved to of had a go in.
Dont loose hope Dave and Piglet, between you guys I rekon you could gather a few competitors for a weekend test/fun event anyway.

Why does it have to be PRODUCTION CLASS???
My truck is a weekend/club car with a cage but the only thing stopping me for this class now is that we are fitting an early commodore standard efi V8 motor which is the same age as the car and will be approved by Qld transport, therefore legal on the road but still not eligible to compete with these guys.
Maybe have Production event with stanard class and modified class that still meet transport regs???

HOW MANY CLASSES DO YOU WANT!!!!!
What part of Production do you not understand!
Production Event is for production vehicles, not one's with 35"tyres, V8/V6 replacement motors, 6"lift, twin motor winches or what ever.
There is no point trying to build another class/event to suit everyone's truck that is modified when there is already one there that will cater for these vehicles namely XWC!!

You keep going back to XWC. Where not intersted in the pro challege.. Are you even listening to the post... A few rule changes and this race could have been run and won.. But it your race..
