drop shackle ( superior engineering)

i spent most of today trying to put my superior drop shackles in the rear. i managed to get the passenger side in and working. however the drivers side i ran into some issues. the shackle when closed presses up hard against the fuel filler hose. so i took all of them out and put standards back in. does anyone know what to do or has fitted these b4?

i got them second hand so if i cant work it out ill probably just sell them and try get flex another way. but would like to see how they go you got any ideas gwagonsteve (apart from ebay hahaha)?

Just a wild stab ... call superior and ask them .. the worst they can say is "we aren't going to help you"

Ebay also sounds good ...

tried ringing them there tech guy had left. Thought i'd ask if other ppl knew. Why are drop shackles that bad?

Most people that say this havent actually tried them for themselves ;) Some have, and each to their own.. but it seems that alot of people just bag them cause "everyone else does". If you have them, do what ever is needed to put them in, and try them for a while.. see what you personally think of them :)

You need to weld a piece of bar on the shckle mount as a stop.

Oh k cool. With doing this I will lose the forward movement when the shackles pinned correct?

Because the shackles can open the forward movement is avoided. As the spring droops the shackle "pivots" and the upper section acutally travels back. Look at the pic above. Imagine that the spring is dropping down. The shackle will straighten out as the spring droops.

If you pin the shackles closed though the lack of movement forward may be an issue.

Yea that's what I thought. It's ok when they are open but I don't know if I'd open them all the time. Also on the street they have to be pinned which might make a harsh ride
