Does anybody know if age of the tyre might be the problem? E.g. " I bought new tyres and I left them in the shed for 2years"... Could that be an issue? Your the ex tyre fitter you tell us?
I want to know how you drive, I know it's hard to answer "What do you drive like?" but in saying in all this, someone really has to sit with you.
Has also been answerd in prev post?
Tasy is a very cold place aswell, I remember in phyics I was rubbing my eraser on a cold surface (2-5 degrees). The rubber was very hard to move, so the grip was increased. The flakes of the rubber was insane, like I rubbed on the surface 10 times, 40% of the rubber was already used. I was using probably 10kg of force + gravity.
No comment LOL
In saying this I think it's due to wheather conditions aswell, but I don't know... I'm just pissed the way you say DON"T BUY THESE CRAP tyres, because I use to work for a tyre fitting place, and MTZ's are very popular set of beats... and your here telling your story thats not even legit.
He did'nt say anywear " DoNT'T BUY THESE TYRES??
Before any issue you should have clear evidence, and well written description on how you think these are crap. Ofcourse theres others out there that having the same issue with you, but are you sure they arn't the same driver as you?
p.s please dont flame at me.. because I will flame back at you -100x worse
He is a Kid at School that has done some very limmited work experiance in a tyre shop. I wouldnt put much faith in any of his advice. i got my tyres roughly 12 months ago from bbm. i run 35x12.5xr15 on a hilux. i heard alot of good things about the mtz and couldnt understand the way mine are wearing out. fanastic tyre just spewin that they have worn so much!8UFF35T wrote:hey m0rkz,m0rkz wrote:im also having the exact same problem with my mtz had them for same amount of time and just though it was dew to it being a softer compoundrumpig89 wrote:i have had a set of 35" mtz's for around two years and done just over 15000 on them. A heap of other blokes i drive with have them and think they are the beeez kneez. I agree that they are a top all-rounder tyre but am a little peeved with how quickly mine have worn compared to other who have had theirs a lot longer and done heaps more k's!!
I am not saying i go easy on them but i certainly dont spin them on the bitumen or thrash them. That said the wear (in my completely uneducated opinion) seems to be crappy rubber. The sidewalls are littered with fine splits, most of the writing has peeled off, tread worn considerably, and seem to have hardened...
i asked the local tyre shop (who i brought them from) but they instantly responded that it would be due to environmental damage. Dont have any pics just at the moment.
If the deterioration is due to driving damage i can accept that and be happy with it but if it is because i happened upon a dud batch i wouldnt be too happy having to replace them in the near future.
all being said I would prob buy them again.
when did you buy these tyres? Looks like I will have to move on to BFG tyres
and Luke... bogged shouldn't scare you, old fart got nothing to do but pick on me.
I am reading it a bit (potentially) differently, that the compound hardness is inconsistent between batches.mike_nofx wrote:I have never used MTZ's, so here is the info i am gathering from peoples experiences with them:
MTZ's are a soft compound, which wear quite quickly (apparently for some?) and are sold as more of an off-road tyre than on-road.
Yet they have a very 'all terrain' type tread pattern. So you wouldn't bother having a seperate on road set. (any more road oriented and you will have semi-slicks!)
They are average performers in mud and most off-road situations, bar maybe sand.
They cost a fortune to buy, and if they dont last THAT long, they could become a very expensive tyre to continue running.
So where is their place? It seems they have the worst of all-terrains (not that good off road) and of Mud Terrains (wear quickly, cost a fortune)
Please educate me!!
Mike
