hey peoples.
the car:
lwb ute with corrolla 1.6 and sprinter 5 speed into sierra 1.3 drivetrain.
its new to a mate and we have little background.
it was poping out of low range into neutral occasionally when 4wding prior to this.
The issue:
he cam home one day poped it into 4H to drive up onto my lawn in the wet. put it back into 2wd when parked.
Next day came out to drive it and no drive at all - and the range selector lever is jammed.
we have drive into the transfere case, but nothing out of the transfer case, seems the front output shaft seal has given way and leaked oil very recently. so im guessing something has seized but cant work out why it seized when not in use??? and why in a neutral/fasle neutral?
would it just be its cooled down and locked up?
sourcing a new tranfer for it, but just trying to understand whats happened to learn from it.
any ideas would be great.

so you dont think its a major issue? is it a transfere out job to replace? or do you do it in the vehicle?boost=money wrote:pull the transfer leaver out and u will fined the bush under there is gone replace it think mine cost $27. i had the same thing last week no bush left. hope this helps

Can be done with transfer still in the car.
The bush (or sheet) breaks down, allowing enough play for the shifter to come out of the selector rods in the front of the case. Last one I got was $14 from Suzuki a few years back.
The leak is a seperate issue.

Rebuild it dude, don't worry too much about getting a new one. They're about as mechanically simple as you're going to get.

mine had problems with the bush as well. I had it replaced probably 2+ years ago and haven't had any trouble since... oh yeah and it only cost me about $20

so this bush people keep mentioning... cant find it i dont think.
I took off the rubber gear lever boot, removed the rubber boot that goes over the gear lever at the transfere popped the gear lever out and there is nothing resembling a rubber bush.
am i not finding it or has it just vanished...

ok so, i think it must be that bush as i can now change gears by holding the lever in certain positions...
however i dont think the bush is there at all, here are two pics and unless its the small round seal inside the transfer below the two pins i dont think its there.
can some one confirm?
I'm guessing its a rubberish style cup which sits at the bottom of this tube?
as you can see in the pic there is a small black rubber o ring style thing but its only like 2mm thick. has some one done a dodge up and put this little bit of rubber in instead of the bush?

how do you get that damn cup in place?!? the little locating pins for the lever get in the way. is there a trick to it or is it just one of those jobs you swear at until it somehow works.
