tyre size and wind up..

Post by crunk81us »

Hi All

100 series part time with standard split rims and 7.5 r16s.
I am looking at getting 4x 235/85/16 and using the 7.5's as spares.
I have calculated a 7.5mm difference in height between the two sizes.
Is that enough to cause wind up/damage?
I can remember dad running new tyres on the back and worn tyres on the front which would have had a similar difference in height without damaging anything
any help would be appreciated.

its probably not enough to notice, but it will be there... however you'll only get windup if you're using 4wd on road - in offroad situations the fronts will just break traction and spin a little now and then.

I ran odd fronts and rear in my zuk for a long time and had no damage.

so theoretically I should have no issues.. I would never run 4wd on the road. and the different sizes will only be spares anyway.
