The old 6.5 was a horrible engine and not worth putting in, However the 6.6 duramax is a totally different story. 400+HP, huge amount of torque, and still use same amount as fuel as a V6 commodore. The 200 certianly drinks fuel, as well as oil, early on, we have some customers who run 200 and towing big vans, and 24-29 lt per 100km they average towing, up to 45 lt per 100km sometimes, tyres down, outback.
Neither had anywhere near that consumption with thier power boosted 100's with TD.
Lucky they are better for the environment, for the reasons they had to phase out the 1hdfte..........

As for my Nissan never letting me down, I don't get into stupid brand name arguments. Toyota vs Nissan is as bad as bogans arguing between Ford vs Holden. I have owned all of them, each have their good and bad points. Some people are just incredibly narrow minded.

I wouldn't buy a current model Nissan either. a naturally aspirated Toyota 2H motor will generate around 70kw @ 3500 rpm. The 6.2 litre Chev diesel offers nearly 120kw at the same rpm

However duramax is anywhere from 300 to 365 hp, up to 660ft.lb torque, will put the landcruiser 4.5 to shame. (convert those to metric if you want - the HP goes down 1/4 but the torque goes up by about 1/3 so you end up with roughly 275kW and 850Nm which is fairly significant in anyone's book.

yeah he said 6.5L chev. By the time he spends $20k on a drive in drive out on that and closer to $30k on the 6.6 duramax (which he didnt mention on the last page)
