Hey guys, this is my FIRST EVER OL4x4 POST, so here goes!

I have been reading your threads for a few weeks now and it seems that you guys have your 4x4 tech pretty much wrapped up. Loads of guys here are starting to import Aussie stuff for Landys.

There has been mention of people using CVs in thier propshafts instead of UJs, which seems to me to be a good idea. I have just fitted homebrew custom cranked front and rear radius arms to the Landy, and there is quite a bit of rumble from the UJs now. This is stock on-the-road, so offroad I guess there would be more chance of something blowing.

Having had a front UJ break up at about 50mph and the propshaft try and hammer it's way into the footwell, it's not an experience I'd want to relive!

Is there an easy way of using a CV in pace of one UJ in the shaft? Or would you be able to swap them both? Would this be as strong as a UJ? And which CV should I use?

Feeling nice this morning - all coffee'd up and its Friday so I will be very helpful...

A lot of what you want to know has already been discussed sir. Various experts have given there considered opinions and we have all had the chance to debate their respective merits. For respected and esteemed newbies like yourself the great and holy moderators [there is no bum licking smiley :?: ] have kindly installed a search function which effectively encyclopediasises [like that ;) ] the combined wisdom of all and sundry...

What you are looking for is not a CV in the bell/cage/bearing sense of the term but instead two UJ's back to back - also called a CV and sometimes a double cardan...

Beautiful bodge.

But Im in a good mood to.

Before changing to a double cardan type joint.

Std uni set up 1 uni each end prop shaft T/case out put and diff input need to be in the same plain.

d/Cardan set the diff pinion is to point at the t/case output.
