That price is a bit rich. Should be around $2700 for the pump. Are you sure that price wasnt with the pump being fitted? They are a labour intensive pump to fit.

Well that sucks! They are a tricky bugger to swap out. Have to pull half the thing apart to get at the pump.

i was going to say, don't get a second hand one you'll just run into the same problems.

sorry to hear it shat itself again. That one is an electrical issue. Take it back to them, the computer ontop of the pump is a sensitive little thing and the wiring loom connecting it isn't crash hot either I'm told.

just checked the dtcs and it came up with 0703, injector pump communication line. thought about the secondhand option, but the amount of car rallys we go to its not worth the risk, we r 120k away frm the diesel place so they can either come and get it or send someone out

Sometimes starter motors that drop current momentarily when cranking can cause the trouble. It will only been seen when watching cranking amps on a scope. It sounds weird, but it will cause interferance because of the collapse in the current, casung an excessive magnetic field.
A new or reco starter sorts it out. The relay on the r/h inner guard can also cause troubles. Best to follow the procedure for that fault code to find the troubles.

Hi everyone,
since this was my car that was having the trouble I thought i would tell you all the outcome of the latest issue.
The reason it wouldnt crank and made that ticking noise was because the earth wire screw for the injector pump fell off!!!
Yeah not happy but the guy got it towed back to the workshop, fixed it, and towed it back to Chook at work.
So all better and I'm a gappy ZD30 driver again.
