Air Con questions

Post by crankycruiser »

I have put a LS1 in my 80 and im sorting the AC out, now i noticed that the AC lines have a little oil in them (to lube the pump i guess?) now when it gets regassed is the oil in the gas or is that something that we have to put back in ourselves??

also anyone got any tricks to get the ls lines to mate up to the 80 lines?

Before you install the lines, condensor, etc... always try and pour as much oil as you can out of them. The oil is hydroscopic (attracts moisture), which is bad inside an aircon system.
As someone said before, the guy who regasses youre system will add more oil, but make sure you tell him that you have had most of the system apart, as they may just assume you have replaced a hose or something and doesnt need oil. You may as well get him to add dye too, helps a great deal when/if you need to trace any leaks.
