Exhaust manifold gasket td42

Post by madmel »

I'm getting all my parts together for a turbo conversion on my GQ TD42.

Should I get factory Nissan exhaust manifold gaskets or after market and is there a big price difference?

Should I be using gasket goo for the exhaust manifold and the the turbo/manifold/dump pipe gaskets? If yes which one.

Finally can the sump gasket be reused when I pull it off to drill the oil drain hole?

Thanks

Mel

I am fitting a turbo atm and am not sure whether I should put gasket goo on the exhaust manifold gaskets, my worry is that a bit of goo could fall in the exhaust stream and hurt the turbo?

I have used the "sandwich" type metal gasket that supercheap sells and to date no problems at all. They ordered it in for me.
Same for the sump gasket, just ordered one in at Supercheap and to date no issues.

I don't like goo for the already mentioned reasons, especially in the sump.

For the turbo I have used a genuine Garrett stainless steel gasket, around 20bucks or thereabouts.
