Stainless Steel snorkel for gq shorty what size? 3" or

Post by BrentE »

Just wondering what size pipe people are running for stainless snorkel, will 4" be overkill on shorty? Also where is best place to get rubber bends, tubing to carby and grommets?

cheers

3" Snorkel looks to small on a GQ IMHO, maybe not so bad on a short but in a LWN they look poxy.

3" is for zooks :)

For the bends you should be able to get them from Supercheap shouldn't you? Intercooler bends, Is that what they use?

Go to truck bits and get the black rubber bends they have, around
$35 each. Silicon bends will cost ya a left nut and i havent seen anyone using them anyway. Go with 4'' also

Had 3in on my shorty and just put 4in on my GU. IMO they both looked good for the vehicle they are on.

As your on the sunny coast and dont mind travelling go to Gympie (steveo's truck spares) for the black rubber bends. I rang around and he was the best price by $5 a bend. Half the price of one truck place in Nambour!!! Even gives you a discount for multiple bends (I bought 6).

cheers

For looks without ram looks better i think.

I had bought the 4" ram head for my GU, and their size is very deceiving. To keep it at roof line, there was next to no pipe up the pillar, looked terrible, so took them back (steveo's) and just have rear facing bends like the pic. Sounds awesome  Dunno if performance is any difference

i used 3 inch full stainless have no issues with airflow, have mates with 4'' on race car but it has a habit of getting squashed cause it hangs out a bit further. . . .
