CERLUNK!

Post by NJV6 »

I have a big clumk/creak/knock when I hit full flex.

It is not something hitting but is quite a good noise and is not plesant. Only happens on full or nearly full flex and alot of my trails this happens alot.

We think it is coming from the rear but it is very hard to tell.

All the major bolts are good and tight.

Any ideas?

If you still have sway bars connected they do make a loud creak/thunk noise when the rear is flexing out. I disconnected mine and apart from better flex the sound is gone...

Sway bar is gone so can't be that.

poojero, what model Pajero did that come off?

Only 3 weeks ago I replaced the entire rear axle housing when I put the Air locker in and the radius arms didn't fall apart then.

It onyl occured after a big flex up and was doing it before I replaced the housing.

I had a similar sound occuring after I had removed the trailing arms to replace the axles mount bushes.

I turned out I had put the rubber bushes on the chassis end of the trailing arms back the wrong way round (they are flat one side and curved the other) and they wore VERY fast, resulting in some slop in the joint making a noise very similar to yours.

Replaced the bushes and noise went away.

its off a series 1 v6. was making heaps of noise for a while and when i found it there was lots of surface rust in one of the cracks so im guessing that it was cracked for a while.
