Removing 80 series fan from pump
OK, next question for the day.
Got everything out for the radiator removal, final think is the fan. I've taken the 4 nuts off the blue fan "stem" but it won't budge off the pump. Any tips other than hitting with a hammer to remove it?

Re: Removing 80 series fan from pump
Just gently tap a flat blade screw driver in there to dislodge it a bit .. nothing hard, just gently persuasion.jsttry wrote:OK, next question for the day.

So did I when I replaced the water pump, thermostat, belts and every damned hose on my TD80 ... man I lost some skin from my poor little desk jockey hands. Anyway I managed to get my fan off by gently tapping a screw driver behind it whilst rotating it around until it was loose enough to wiggle off.TheBigBoy wrote:Nope, I just did it a week ago. Wiggle it from side to side, up and down really hard. Mine was way tight aswell. Using a flat blade screw driver only made it worse and even tighter on 1 side.

If you didn't undo the tension on the belts you probably just farked the thread on the studs.jsttry wrote:thanks guys, screwdriver and hammer did the trick. just wasn't sure if it would cause any other issues.
as soon as i took the belts off the fan literally fell off.
