Hilux transfer problem

Post by Frankenyota »

I have excessive end float in the output shaft of my gear driven transfer case.
Has anyone had a similar problem and know of a way to shim it out or fix it?
My local gearbox guy is not quite sure.

Cheers

Check that the retaining nut has not come loose, if not you will prob find it is a bearing issue and needs a rebuild kit... There should not be end float.

The transfer had new bearings about 18 mths ago and sees little mileage.
The nut was tight. Stripped it down to check for a failed bearing but all seems good.
My manual refers to snap rings of different thickness but toyota only list one size?
So i thought someone may have had a similar problem and could tell me a way of shiming out the end float.

Cheers
