Hi all i have a small issue with my cut down FJ40 .
The rear tyres hit the cab when flexing.
My question is what have people found to be the best sollution for relocating the rear diff back.
Any help / advice would be great.
Chris

longer springs. What years is your shorty? This will determine if it has small spring mount eyes or large ones and in turn what springs to use. Typically if it is small eye mounts use FJ55 rear springs. If it has large eye mounts use either front 75 series or rear 60 series springs. You will need to flip the rear hanger if you use 60 series springs (they are longer than front 75 series). Whichever ones you use you should customise the leaf pack to suite your vehicle. Moving the rear axle back will also require tailshaft lengthening. You may also need brake line lengthening and longer shocks.
There was a website I found once with a lot of information about this swap, I think it was an Australian 4x4 forum and it even had a search function.
Luckily for you I bookmarked it, here.
