What are peoples thoughts on these and which would you choose. Size is 33x10.5x15

i'd go with the originals... the simex... and i did =) except in 31x10.5r15.. they measure closer to 32 though.

i have some 31" silverstone extremes and they seem pretty decent. They seem to be really grippy on rock and have no problems in mud, they also dont seem to be showing many signs on wear after 5000kms. I can't make a comment about the simex because i have never used them but my friends have and they reckon they are a great tyre.

used both in 35'' but prefer the silver stones seemed 2 have a bit better grip on the rocks

Can't fault the silverstones. I've got 33's which measure 30".
'95 Maruti lwb, 1.6GTI, 6.5:1, locked F+R, SPOA on 33's.

I think the Silverstones have a better thread pattern/lug design and better rubber compound. That said though the sizes have to be looked at a 33 Simex is about the same as the 35 Silverstone.

X2 except I have the 32x9.5 that measure 32.5 overall hieght. Most of the time they are at 5-6 psi without beadlocks and have only once come off the rim, when I hit a rut at speed.

Sizes have been redone new silverstone is 32.7 for 33 or 34.7 for 35. Not sure if I'd fit a true 34.7 with spoa and 2" body

Any idea when those sizes changed? I picked up a spare 33" ~6 weeks ago and it's still the same old ~30" measurement.

what sucks abouts what silverstone did though - is that technically for engineering a vehicle you have to run the sized stated on the modification papers... now, if you were engineered to run 33's, but had to buy 35" silverstones to measure 33, legally, its a 35" tyre, cos thats what it says on the sidewall...

flip side though - you could buy the undersized tyres to get a larger size engineered - however if they ever measured your height again after you changed rubber you'd also be boned.

I'm not to worried about the engineering part as 31's can't be engineered in nsw. Hard part at the moment is making sure I get the tyres that measure 32.7 not 30. Or should I go 35's the measure 34

You fit them easy. plenty of spring under cars with under 2" lift plus 2" body running 34 inch tyres.

This is a true measurement of 34.7 it's marked on the tyre as a 35. I think the 34's only measure a 33 or less. I ordered the 33's hopefully they are what I'm wanting. Didn't wanna spend the extra 100 a tyre for simex I decided.

chopping the guards can net you about 2" of virtual lift... i'd say he's done that

I run the simex's and I find them better on rock than all the radials I've had in the past. I think the silverstones are a bit grippier due to softer rubber but they wear alot faster. I daily drive my zook so that's why I went for the simex with the hard compound rubber.

Baring in mind my diffs are 4 inches forward obviously I have cut more then you could get away with on a road vehicle, but a 1-2 inch cut should suffice, all I did was the dodgy 50 odd cuts, a big hammer and pop rivet the cut pieces back together. The first pic is about an inch off the bumpstops, the second pic is how they stand now.

Bit of an update I decided to go with the silverstones in a 33x10.5. This is where the fun began. They actually measure 34.5" diameter and close to 11" wide. This making then a fair chunk larger then the 32.7 I was expecting. Diff is forward an inch spoa and body lift and approx 2" bump stops. They only hit on the front near light bucket and near fire wall and flares. So I decided to get the big hammer out and after 2 days it's almost clering the guards. Next thing to look at is my superior drop shackles for rear and ruf. Longer shocks and hoops. So a spoa on pretty much 35s and body lift not bad for a daily driver LOL

I've done some bumpstop extension and guard bashing and minor cutting to areas where it rubs.

it only has about 2 inchs of uptravel before it hits the bumps in the front and the diff is around 2 inch forward of stock

Thanks I'm pretty happy with it. I think the biggest issue is the wheel offset being so large it puts the tyres closer to the guards. But all good now. Now for ruf and shock hoops.
