Post by Wendle »

is the former listed as "40mm elliptical profile" the one that works nice for 32NB (42.2mm OD) material?

yeah, I know. but does the 40mm one work, or do you have to use the 50mm one? 50mm one sounds a bit gay to me?

yeah, the problem is that they don't list them in nominal bore sizes. I rang dawn and waited on hold forever, I'll try again soon.

wouldn't you just go for the 32NB die?

i don't have the dawn tools dies but i will measure my dies (which come in the same increments) and tell you the internal width

To do that size pipe you need the 32mm former.

I wish they would list them as such, instead of just 25mm, 40mm, 50mm, etc.
And I wish they would answer the phone!

yeah, I have those dies as well, about as handy as a penis on a prostitute, most of them!

no-one in canberra sells dawn tools, I have to try and buy it off dawn direct, or order from a shop in sydney or some shit.. they are listed by nominal bore size, so the 32mm one is the one you want for the 42.4mm seamless stuff.

bender formers

Post by davejb »

Enerpac make an aluminium former for N.B pipe, they are good to use and lighter than the Dawn cast iron items.
Check them out gives you another option.

anything would be better than the pos formers i have now
they have widened significantly and no longer fully support the pipe

would alu hold shape better than cast iron?

i can't get the 32NB die for $80 now
i might just spend a bit more and get a jd2 or protools

N*A*M the enerpac aluminium formers are very good they support the pipe and hold there shape. Down side is they are in the $ 200- 250 price range. Up side very light to work with. A mate uses one for car cages and has no problems.
