Hi,
Can any one tell me how difficult it is to pop the sump off a 1hz in a 75 series with the engine in the car?
Have talked to 2 or 3 experts who say difficult too can't be done ...... but none have ever tried
Wondering if someone has done it and could tell me before i try as its my daily driver....... the next thing I'm doing is stop talking to experts.

i.ve done a thousand 78 series sumps in car working in the mines, not too hard job, have to drop draglink and tierod off. Its a dirty bastard of a job, if you have a go, be sure you drain the oil overnight before hand it'll save you alot of frustration trust me. A hoist makes it alot easier too if you have access to one.
Dropping the sump off a troopy is very simple, from memory nothing had to be removed for the sump to be removed. And definitely do as Troopa mentioned, and drain the oil the night before. It will obviously still drip a little oil out, and yes its a dirty bastard of a job

Removing the sump is easy as.... in theory.
Toyota glue them on with loctite grey from factory and can be a real bastard to take off.
When i took mine off i rekon i could have driven around for years without any bolts in it haha.
Just be pretty heavy handed with it, use a few screw drivers and pry them in around the lip, knock them in with a hammer like i had to.

Be heavy handed?
You have to try to avoid bending the sealing surface as much as possible... When you get it off just lay it on a bench or something and try to lightly tap with a hammer and wide punch, or small socket to try to achieve a flat sealing surface again.
If it goes in warped and bent, chances are she'll leak again!
