I also thought it's to stop anything sparking if your on a weird angle with fluids pouring out, not just to stop the motor.

On a petrol engine that does not shif off when the negative terminal is isolated then you can break into the coil pack circuit, in the cas of a deisel engine then you can break into the fuel cut off solonoid

This means the isolator must be able to be activated by both members of the crew while in a normal seated position in the vehicle. 4.1.13 ATTERIES
Batteries are free. Fitting and location of additional batteries is free.
All batteries shall be securely fastened and if they are in the cabin they shall be secured in an enclosure and vented to the outside of the vehicle unless the battery is a sealed unit.
Mechanical battery isolation switches shall be fitted to 12v systems thus terminating the running of the engine and all battery power throughout the vehicle when activated in Production, Challenge and Open Class vehicles.

Can someone please clarity rules re: harnesses. I've read the rules 3.6.1 & 4.1.3, and being a group B event we don't need racing harnesses.

unfortunatly your car wouldn't past scrutineering with this systemon my car it is a manual fuel shut of it doesnt matter wat you do with the electrics it wont shut the engine off

All competitors and vehicles will be required to comply with CCDA Manual of Motorsport and 4x4Masters Event Supplementary Regulations.
These Supplementary Regulations shall augment Cross Country Driver’s Association Manual of Motorsport and all documents shall be read together

If you are "updating the rules as we speak" this doesnt give drivers much time to apply a change they know nothing about when committing a team to this event.
For those that have vehicles without harnesses they now have 3 and a bit weeks which seems unreasonable.
Could this fit into the category of items that may gain an exemption until round 2 ?

i cant find an engineer to do ticket for 37 inch tyres on a gq i was told to do 35s will require a brake testing session at additional cost and will chew my tyres up doing the testing , also i was told recentley racing harnesses and roll cages are illegal in a registered vehicle, any info regarding these matters will be appreciated . The extra cost of harnesses and bucket seats is gunna keep a few of out of first round !

And my kill switch will remain on the tray that can have access from my navie if i pass out. That is part of the reason it is outside the car. inside the car the driver has the key to shut it down..
imagine if a driver did knock himself out..
A bit hard to get thru the door and net.. easy to kill it from outside.

Post Discussion with the Masters management team I think it is better for you all to think of the comp as a single day Willowglen as far as vehicle requuirements and the type of diving / risk.
The CCDA and the Masters team will work to make this happen. As the Sanctioning body behind Willowglen and Tuff truck in NSW I am sure we can allow current best practice from Willowglen to be followed in this competition.

If the 4x4 masters officials follow Pauls comments regarding Willowglen each competing car will need harnesses for driver and Nav. We only insist on a cage for soft Top or no top vehicles. They also have to cover the top of the cage (above the driver and nav) with either 2mm mild steel sheet or 3mm alluminium.
I believe that these should be the min requirements.
The Cage and Harness rule has always been in the CCDA rules.
I understand where the confusion has occured from the above posts but guys if you have a competing truck in any comp this day and age the min reqs should be a good cage, a good pair of harnesses, window nets and aus standard helmets.
