What lift to clear 31's on a jimny?

Post by Zooknut »

Hi guru's, as the subject states I would like to find out what lift is required to clear 31x10.5 cooper st's on wide ofset 15x7 rims. Thanks for your help

Too much.

Jimny's have tiny guards and have to be lifted sky high to clear 31's without cutting.

A better option is 235/85/16's on GV or XL-7 rims. It's all about the width. the 235 can tuck into the guards so you can run very low lift and the tyres will tuck into the guards so the cutting is behind the plastic.

In any case, you'll need to sort gearing and axle strength.

i had an OME 40mm lift kit with a 50mm body lift and with a little front guard cut they fit fine.

i have fit 31's on my jimny. Had a 1.5" body lift (make sure you do this properly) 80mm toughdog suspension lift. Wheels were sierra offset 15x7's, dont go wider cause you'll regret it. If you can find some cheap 30" tyres you are better off with them, i had to trim the guards and the 31"ers still scrubbed.

i agree with mrRockey the grinder enables you to fit any tire size, i run 35's with about 2 hours worth of guard chopping and about 4 months of work to be able to make them turn :D

Thanks all for your help, I'm not sure what I will fit. I had 30x9.5's on my Sierra and was hoping to get a bit bigger on the Jimny just because most ruts on the trails are chewed out by much bigger tyres. My old Sierra had a 2 inch lift and the 30's still scrubed a little, the rims were 15x7's with I think -24 offset. If I continue to build the Jimny I will probably fit 30's and about a 3 inch lift and will have to chop the gaurds. Thanks again, Nick.
