help installing suspnsion lift in vitara

Post by gumtree »

im going to install new lifted springs and shocks in my 93 LWB vitara. anything special i should know before or is this a fairly straight forwad task?

my main concern is do i need some kind of spring compressor to get the new lifted springs in their positions? new springs will lift the car 50mm.

I can get my lifted OME springs in and out of my vit (with a 30mm spacer) with out a spring compressor but I have to, disconnect strut, disconect sway bar and pull CV out (RH side) and unbolt CV (LH side). I tried borrowing a spring compresor but the one i used was not well suited to the diameter of the OME springs I was installing.

Hope it helps!

When i put spring spacers ontop of my lifted coils i used heavy duty wire to make a spring compressor, alot less fuss then pulling the whole assembly apart.

However, i will say that you have to make sure you're very careful how you tie the wire and where you place it. ....safety first peeps

If you are looking for a new home for the old springs, I know a swb vit that they can go under....

Happy to give you a hand if you are near Ipswich....

Yo yeah you defo dont need coil compressors, I went out and brought a pair cost me friggen $100 and then when I went to do it they wouldnt even fit around them, just undo everything like sway bar, cv's drop the dif down etc,and your good to go ;)
