replacing coils on an XL-7 GV

Post by keatings »

Hey guys does anyone have an opinion on replacing the coils with taller ones (35mm higher) and not replacing the shocks? We need some more height for the sand. Would this be ok?

ah ok,

if u dont replace your shocks they will be close to their full extended limit. u will have no flex virtually can car will ride bad on the road. u will get bogged very easy and risk damaging the shock very easy.

if u do replace them u will have flex and a normal, safe, comfortable car to drive around.

definatly replace the shocks, dont be tight, do it right.

Maybe look into getting this kit....

http://outdoorauto4x4.com/p/601217/gv-b ... -50mm.html

Cheaper than the cheapest suspension kit and retains factory ride you also get 50mm lift as opposed to the 30-35mm most springs give you.

Also factor in camber bolts and a wheel alignment as part of the intall.

Fit up some 225/75/16 AT's and you have much more off road clearance!

puting spacers to lift a car is illigal. insurance can refuse a claim and u can get fined from road side check points. there are allowed to be used to level out a car. ie a 10mm used in rear to level out saggy suspension etc.

plus thats a ripoff! $500. spacers are normally $40-$60 a pair, and those shocks are no more than $200 a pair if bought seperatly.

just do it properly the 1st time.
