petrol in a deisel tank ?

Post by dazgq1 »

gday im converting my wagon to a dual cab with 300 mm off chassis and have noticed the ome tank is not quite the right size to fit the custom tray and chassis i brought . the setup did come complete with a custom made tank BUT it was a deisel . can i add a breather to this tank so it can be used for petrol or is there something else needed , all other inlets/outlets are the same :)

My GQ was a diesel when I bought it, I then converted it to a petrol engine and run petrol in the diesel tank without a problem.

this is dumb of me but i thought diesels would of had a breather?? (although it does explain the sucking air noise when i open my tank) i hadnt really thought about it, but if i had of i woulda come to the conclusion my tanks breather may hae been blocked.

is there a reason for this?

He picked up the wrong pump on the way to Fraser Island and didn't realise until 20 litres later! Aparently it blew a little smoke but was all ok.

Most tanks do have a breather. My HZJ80 has a breather which was blocked and got vacuum happening everytime I opened the tank. Fixed it now tho as I fitted the carbon canister up to it for the petrol conversion and it vents properly now.
