MODPLATE question...help! pics
i have a 1990 swb maverick, have put in a 308 red holden motor using marks adapters kit, it uses way less fuel therefore less emissions? does anyone have any ideas or know anyone who can help me comply this as it is my baby and iv spent lotsa money and time on it? the whole car is pretty tidy and not too agressive, is on 33s now also.
any help would be really appreciated

i think under his avatar it says qld , so my guess is no chance of legally getting it on the road as is
and useing less fuel doesnt mean less emissions , it means it uses less fuel , a 6 liter v8 could produce less emissions than a 3 cyl charade

what year is the motor? obviously before 1990 yes?
so that creates a drama in itself.
have you spoken to qld transport about it?
an option may be to put it on gas, its like waving a white flag and shouting diplomatic immunity.

Treedemo: You might want to re-think that top hose bracket to the plastic fan shroud. That will tear out pretty quick.

that is how it is up here. im not sure, but i think if you run lpg you can get away with it, would have to ask DOT though...

i wouldnt think to send him any where in QLD as the rules are the same every where in QLD , to keep it legal , unfortunatly , he is out of luck as it is
run it on gas , fit smaller tyres , and drop it to 2 inch max lift and he should be able to get passed ,
the way im looking at it is , whats the point getting a mod plate if the rest of the car isnt roadworthy in QLD

Because alot of the times on a forum one person will say one thing while another will say something to the contrary, but if he speaks directly to someone that will eventually do the mod plate he'll know exactly what needs to be done to get the car to comply with everything

thanx, its just that the lift and tyres r the easy part to change, the motor isnt thats why im just keen on help for that at the mo

the actual rule is that the motor must comply or be better than the original engines emissions. i.e. an 89 patrol carby has a charcoal canister and exhaust recirc or whatever it is. therefore the 308 has to have the same.
this is from calling QT, 3 mod platers and an engineer so if its wrong then there is a few illegal cars which are complianced out there.

Plater shouldn't care what tyres/lift you have, but would run something legal into DOT when you get the engine numbers swapped over as they will come out and check. Went through all of the above when dropping the lexus into my 4runner (91 motor, 94 4runner).

the QLD DOT should have all the regs on there site and to get anything mod plated it has to meet the written criteria , just putting on some anti pollution gear may not be enough
pritty sure the emmision gear must be for the newer year
IE if the cars a 92 model then the motor must comply to 92 emmisions
