Will this locker fit???

Post by Dalluke »

Hey guys,
Just a quick one I may be able to score a rear diff assembly with ARB air locker from a Gen 1 leaf sprung pajero for quite cheap. However I wanted to find out if i can swap the whole diff centre assembly into my 1991 Gen 2 NH pajero. Both the donor vehicle and mine are 3.0L V6's. I know the crown wheels are different diametres 124 and 145 between the two, but the axle splines are the same so does this not mean by just replacing the whole diff centre it will fit? Is the diff housing the same shape etc?

Any help would be apprieciated

No.
8" (leaf spring) = 10 bolt
9" (coil spring) = 12 bolt

No, crownwheel bolts.
All Paj's (8, 9, 9.5" diffs) have 10 bolts for the rear housing.
There is a much bigger size difference between the 8 & 9" diffs compared to the 9 & 9.5" units.
The problem will be the hole centres on the 8" won't line up with the studs on the 9" housing and even if they did the 9" axles would probably be too short.

The 9.5 inch diff has 12 bolts for the rear housing - this is the easiest way to tell the difference from the 9 inch 10 bolt.
