Offset and bearing pressure

Post by Winkdog »

G'day
I was thinkin bout gettin some wheel spacers for my hilux till a mate told me they arnt road worthy and that they add like a tonne of pressure on the bearings for every inch of wheel spacer

Is this true and does having big offset do the same thing (with the pressure on the bearings)

Get offset rims.

They will do the same thing but at least they are legal.

As long as the centerline of the tyre is within the inner and outer bearings I really don't think there would be a great deal of difference. Only issues would be if the centerline was massively outside the outer bearing, then the effects of leverage would raise their ugly head and overload the bearings

Don't forget offset rims CAN also be illegal.... though if done correctly they will be fine....
