but have no roll cage or winch rope.
whats the deal with no wire cable and needing a roll cage now?
is it because of insurance

will the 50 spectators cars get to have a drive and how will you chose the 50 cars?

the pics of the tracks looked awesome and its a shame you cant enter without a cage

Yes cages and the no cable rule are because of insurance.
Spectator means you are there to watch, not drive! And entry is to the first 50 to pay.
Thanks to all those that have sent me an email, I've been a bit busy the last few days I'll reply to them all tonight.

Thanks.

Lucky you  :!: .
Plenty of others have injured themselves even in a minor flop in the side.
This event is promoted as HARD. And with hard tracks, safety becomes more important, so a cage is the minimum, along with helmets, window nets etc etc. Then after that the decent tyres, winch. . . . . . .
Not exactly what i would call a shame.
Everyone loves a 40!

Looks like most winch comps will require rope rather than wire in the future . It's heaps safer.
You can get good rope for about $280 , try ebay . The stuff used on Tigerz11 winches seems to work fine. I have used it heaps on my gu , no problems.

I can now provide a few more details. The event will be held using CCDA insurance and everyone that attends will need to be a CCDA member.
Woodpecker will be open to CCDA OPEN class, and that means that you DON'T NEED REGO.

You will need a minimum of a 4 point cage and normal seat belts for hardtop vehicles, and a 6 point cage and 4 point harnesses for soft top vehicles. The CCDA's rules regarding roll cages can be found on their website.

The marshals event will be open to all CCDA classes up to Challenge class, and hard top vehicles will not need a cage, soft tops will need a 6 point cage, and you won't need a winch. There will be different sections in each stage for less modified vehicles.

We'd really like some help from the 90 or so of you that recently done your Marshal training for the Masters. If we can get 40 marshals that will mean you'll only need to help out for around 6 hours, then you can spend the rest of the time doing whatever you like. Even if you haven't done the Marshal training we still need a few people to help out on the gate etc.
We'd also like to hear from you if you think your club would like to look after a stage.
Remember this is for charity, any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

What do you want to know?

I can't give you the complete rules just yet, we are still sorting them out with the CCDA. Like I said at the start of this thread we are in a rush to get this event happening, I'll make them available ASAP.

All the info is basically in this thread, it's almost the same as the other 10 Woodpecker Gully Challenges that the On All 4's Club has held. It's just that we have added the City v's Country to make things a bit more interesting.

Jamie had a few guys from our club and a couple of other clubs test driving stage 1 on Saturday, it looks like it's going to take 30 minutes to drive that one stage!
Because of the length of time it will take to get everyone through the guys out there decided it would be better to run the event with 2 car teams like the old Woodpecker, so that's what we are going to do.

.
After reading that again I'd just like to add that this event is not just for OPEN class, other classes are welcome as long as they meet the rules!

Tyre size

Post by Suit city »

It was said that there is a tyre limit of 37" is this a maximum or a minimum size, as our truck has run in previous woodpecker events with a 42" tyre.

This will be the deciding factor if we can enter as we cant afford another set of tyres.

woodpecker A++

Post by 4X4 shorty »

I was lucky enough to get to have a look and drive one of the new courses that Jamie, richard and the on all 4s boys have put together its tops had an absolute ball the 47 loved ever minute of it, its nice and tight in spots to make to look at where your going put your truck.

This looks like it will be another great comp thanks to the boys (and girls) from ON ALL 4S

P.S if its wet on JLW its going to be neat, tyres will be like racing slicks on the wet rocks, I just about smoked mine on the water fall and it was dry!! can't wait to try my new 40' stickys next time I'm there

$50 per adult for the weekend.

Kids under 16 are free.

Here's a few more pictures from last weekend testing the track.
