nissan Diff gears

Post by 5middy »

This is a toyota owner venturing in to the unknown...

Am thinking of putting GU diff and GQ in to my winch challenge hilux single cab. Currently running Hilux 4.88 diff gears, and am wanting to know if i can keep the same diff ratios if i was to put a GU diff in the front and a GQ diff in the rear. What i need to know is what vehicle can I find either NISSAN 4.66 OR 4.88's to fit in to nissan diffs, and Is there any problem with running a nissan REAR diff in the front, but run it backwards? i.e teeth cut would be backwards?

Any thoughts / answers?

4.8 are rare and the 4.6 come in GQ GU 2.8td wagons. .

Make sure for what you are doing you use only genuine nissan diff gears.

I think he means the diff centre, not the diff housing

Yeah I am not sure what he means but I dont see any advantage in putting the raer in the front. The front GU is plenty strong enough no need to try and make it stronger. Maybe his tailshaft is on the passenger side and he needs to sort that out somehow.

my front drive shaft is on the drivers side, and rear tailshaft is also on the drivers side. Wont have any problems witht he rear diff pumpkin being in the centre as i have plenty or room to play with. What is was originally meaning was to put a GQ diff head in the front, in a GU diff, not the whole of the rear diff in the front..

thanks guys

Any reason why and I do not know of any one that has been able to put a complete rear centre in the front. Axle splines are tottally different plus lots more.
