Am going to do a custom tray and an exo cage, and as far as i read ( spent and time with the CCDA and CAMS regs ) as long as my rear loop and stays in my ute is to spec than anything i bolt/weld/clamp on to it is more then i need for entry into and 4x4 comps... On this note who will bend and cert a cheap hoop if i notch and weld the stays/xmembers?

Not sure what you are saying but if you are going to enter a CCDA comp then you will need an internal cage aswell as a rear hoop and down stays for utes. What size pipe are you using.

Not sure what you are suggesting here, but the ENTIRE cage needs to be spec. You may Weld to it to add brackets etc, you cannot drill it or use it for air/fluid storage.
And what sort of comps are we talking about?
Also remember that the cage isn't just built to comply with specs, It's built to save you and your navi's life!

I'm looking at entering my troopcarrier in Finke. I haven't read the regs or specs from whatever the relevant governing body is but didn't see anything in them stopping me from using cardboard toilet roll tubes bonded with paper mache for the cage. That shit's only for looks anyway, right?

Everybody know's that troopies have been banned from finke and off road racing to help level out the competition and give the class 8 guys a chance of winning.

What I'm talking about is just that the rear loop being Certed buy CCDA or CAMS is enough... and as long a you do as you say with regared to adding to that an exo cage is just there to save body work and the main loop saves your life...

P.S. I have been in 2 ute rolllovers ( 3 or so rolls ) down clifs in gipplans and the crappy steel ute top as saved the cab from crushing, was bent as all SH#t but save me and my navi....

Sorry for the hijack, figured i'd just add here instead of starting a new thread.

The CCDA specs, are the measurements used OD or ID? eg 38mm x 2.5mm tube.

Cheers.
