hey i was wondering if anyone has had any experience with these befour ?? they look pretty smick but at $1700 wondering if its the best way to go upgrading from the stock intercooler ?? not realy interested in runnin a front mount..

you could import a frozen boost water to air for under a grand.

We have done afew cc4x4 cruiser 1hdt units, and the product seems to be ok.
93 Nissan Pathfinder / Terrano Turboed VH45, GQ Trans and T-case, coil overs, hydraulic winch and fair bit of other stuff. (Currently a pile of parts in the workshop)
We have done with a great result on a Gu 4.2 fact i/c. It had a wide scoop rather than two. I was pretty impressed with the results. The owner also likes it.

cross country intercooler
im running a frozen boost set up [ W/A ] i was runing air to air since going W/A my EGT s have droped better fuel econ and running around 22psi with a big pump aswell. It had 238 hp@ wheels with the air to air. Haven t dynoed it with the water to air. Lovin it
How many "good car at what ever the cost" manufacturers use water to air ?
How many UAE aftermarket tuning houses use water to air for high ambient temps ? [where cost isnt the main consideration]
The true test, intake temp measurements pre and post for each set up [and not just for a 3 up power run on the rollers either]

Ive got an Ultimate GU intercooler on my 05 GUIV,awsome bit of kit coupled with a D22 Navara scoop. 80 degree temp drop acroos the cooler at 19PSi on the dyno with bonnet closed and fan on.
HAving said that just fitted a 4 core laminova with huge heat exchanger in the rear of the comp truck ,charge air in at 30PSi 180 C, temp out 48 C, ambient air temp 23C.
Measured pressure drop and boost curve before and after intercooler,very very minimal difference.

Both have advantages and disadvantages.
Looking beyond cost, the design criteria would tend to be swayed by other factors such as space limitations, weight, airflow etc and this would dictate what you use
Comp spec stuff may not be the best on a tourer and vice versa
Best to look at your application, decide on what coolers fit that criteria before handing over coins.

I have had air to air, a Frozen boost w/a and now a laminova.
I would pick the laminova out of all, however if i did not have the cash i would go a cross country top mount air to air. Have seen a few and was very impressed.
If you want to haze the (35") tyres with the locker on in 3rd gear on the bitumen i would go the following.....
Laminova intercooler with a big heat exchanger
United Fuel Injection pump (they are awesome)
and United Fuel Injections hybrid turbo......
You will obviously have to do other mods to the motor, but this would be a good start as you could run all this with less fuel and boost.

The most critical part of any intercooler whether it be air or water is surface area. Unfortunatly most off the shelf water to air coolers are lacking in this most crucial aspect. This is where the Laminova has the advantage of being quite compact whilst having large surface areas compared the typical barrel water coolers. No matter how fancy the design at the end of the day heat is transfered through contact, more contact with a cool surface, more cooling.

Plus the water to air still have to have the water cooled by air eventually, so size and placement of this needs to be considered as well.
