Warn 8074 or 8274
Looking at replacing my lowmount winch with a Warn hi-mount.
Just want to know which is the better unit? The 8074 or the 8274?
Are both able to be upgraded, motor and drum.
I will be upgrading to at least a 6hp motor maybe a 7.6 if I can get one at the right price.

The 8074 is a few hundred cheaper than the 8274 but is starting to sound like the hassles may not be worth saving a few hundred.
If you are going to fit an air freespool ie drum disconnect - Mal Leslie, Flamin Fab type the 8074 will be fine with a 6hp motor with new splined motor pinion gear to replace key type of old 2.5hp motor. The 8274 pull type free spool only disconnects pinion gear at motor. The rest of gear train rotates with drum in free spool mode.
