wheel spacers, large offsets???
hey all,
Id like to know who is running wheel spacers and/or large offset rims on rover axles???
doesnt matter what diffs (toy/rover/sals), doesnt matter what shafts, or cvs etc. what Im interested is if anyone is having problems with the:
Front: swivel ball to axle case flange connection
rear: spindle (stub axle) to axle case flange connection
please let me know how much offset you are running and or what size wheel spacers. also how much the vehilce is driven

16 x 8.5 rims 4" backspace and 1 1/2" wheel spacers, 37's and no issues yet, mainly a play rig though.

Snapped axle to swivel mounting bolts when racing it.
Otherwise no wheel bearing or swivel pin problems in 100,000klm.
Oh and we flogged the shit out of it all the time.

Have you thought of machining a spacer for between the axle housing and the swivels and getting Barry to make you longer axles to suit ?
That'll maintain your scrub radius/KPI and wont stress the bearings/stub axle, although you'll need some pretty good bolts.
I do remember Tombie on AULRO saying once that his neighbour/engineer did the sums on those huge offset rims he had on his Defender and they were nowhere near overloading the bearings.
