pyro guage from group buy problems..

Post by rumpig89 »

gday

i got a green display digital pyro guage from that group buy late last year and it has been running fine until about 3 weeks ago.

Now it spends most of its time just displaying "EEEE". When i touch the casing it sometimes displays the reading... othertimes nothing. Sometimes it will read properly for a couple of hours, sometime in 3 second bursts, sometimes nothin...

anyone had an similar problems or know what it might be??

I got a couple of these at the same time (boost and pyro) and found that the tech support (via email) was great when I had programing problems with mine. I would go straight to auberins by sending them an email, I always got a fast answers that solved all my problems.

Symptoms sound a lot like a loose connection or intermittent open circuit on your probe wiring.

mine did that when my probe wires got damaged.

to check your unit you short out the two terminals which your pyro would screw into and it should show approx air temp of that day. if so something is wrong with your probe.

other wise its your unit.

for me i had damaged my probe and it was sorted.

I have the green screen unit an had problems with mine too. My temperature was fluctuating all over the place and showing EEEE too, I sent it back for warranty and had it returned within a week of them receiving it. It had a 'cold solder' point as they called it, I assume a connection not made properly. They said they hadn't seen the problem before but maybe you got a bad one from the same batch as mine? As said, short out the terminals on the back (the manual tells you which ones) and if the display doesn't show ambient the problem is with the display unit not the probe. I was dissapointed with the failure but I must say their after sales service through email was fantastic.
