Interior light problems in GQ
Hi guys ive got a weird problem with the interior light in me gq wagon

But if i only put one bulb in it don't do it. dosent matter weather its the front or rear.
Any ideas?

The fuse for the interior lamps should be 10A.
There is power available at each light at all times, and the fact that you have to have both globes installed to blow the fuse seems to indicate an overload condition.
The fuse also supplies power for the clock and radio - maybe disconect those to see if the problem still occurs.

it sounds like overload, but the fact that the bulbs draw a lot less then 1 amp, i doubt that it would be the case. check that the wires haven't been pinched under the light fitting. a trick to finding a short is to remove the fuse and but a headlight bulb in its place (solder a couple of wires to the bulb and some male spade terminals to go into the fuse holder) the bulb will glow dull or not at all depending on the current draw, if there is a short it will glow bright, then you can go threw shaking the harness etc, until the light goes out, your short will be in that area.
shorts can be a pain to find, you may end up pulling half the car apart.

If the supply wire is pinched or shorted anywhere, then the fuse would blow regardless of whether a globe was installed, plus there is the fact that both globes must be installed for the fuse to blow.
If the switch wire was pinched or shorted, the light would just be on, regardless of the door switches.
Are you sure they're not 50W globes instead of 5W - unlikely I know, but it would explain it.
