Will a 2H and 60ser bellhousing fit a 45

Post by SIMMO84 »

As above have a 45 that has a 5.0 and adapter that I need d to put the 2h into. Main concern is if the 60 bellhousing has holes to bolt the gear box mounts to. Would have a look but its 80km away and im not going back up until I go to swap motors.

I put a 75 series 5 speed into my 45 and it bolted straight in. I believe they are the same size clutch (don't quote me on that) and same spline. Mine had an ED Falcon 4.0 litre in it with adaptor plate to the original BH. About the gearbox mounts on the BH, don't use those ones. Make your own gearbox cross member. They will rip out a big hole in the bell housing when they fail. Trust me.

Yeah i just need the engine in the 45 as I want the 5.0 for my hilux. Does the 60 bellhousing have the bolt holes for the gbox mounts? Its not my 45 so I dont want to spend too much time on it.

No, the 60 gearbox has a proper cross member under it unlike the 45 box being solely supported by the bell housing. You may be able to graft in a 60 series cross member perhaps? Depends on how bad you want the engine.

Find a wrecked 40/42/45/47 with a build date of August 1980 onwards, it'll have the right gearbox crossmember, rip it out and the brackets that connect it to the chassis rails.
