King of the Rim (Competition) 16&17 July

Re: King of the Rim (Competition) 16&17 July
There looks like there will be around 10 in each class.
It means there is going to one full day of action. We can cater for more cars but this is a good number as there will be 60 tracks driven.
We have at least 5 cars that have competed in TT and there is another 3 that are looking to enter TT next year.
Cars from NSW is around 6 and we are waiting on a further 2-5 cars that are hoping to be ready and we'll know early next week.
From up northern, central QLD there is another 3-5 looking to compete if an email last night we recieved is correct.
As you could imagine we are pretty busy down the park setting everything up. Thank goodness for the I Phone.
We look forward to seeing you at what will hopefully be the beginning of a signature event for 4wding in QLD.

Re: King of the Rim (Competition) 16&17 July
sorry for the hijack brendan,
but i think (and i don't know any of the blokes/gals in offroad cartel) if 'offroad cartel' want to sell their product at a show e.g king of the rim, they should and be given open arms - given that they are the 'correct' people, as this does nothing but promote our sport and hopefully provide support, sponsorship, or income from a 'stand' for the venue holders!! yes they should (if they havent already?) run it pass the organisers for their ok, and go about a better way of promoting their product - a way deamed acceptable from the organiser. but this is a way to grow our sport, and get it out there.
maybe as an event organiser (no i haven't any experience or knowledge in the field) there could be an avenue for people who are selling (as long as its through an official means through the event organiser) to advertise the fact they will be there and what they have to offer?
again sorry for the hijack, and as said i wouldn't a clue who 'offroad cartel' are but have seen their clothing.
sorry but my 2c worth
carry on, can't wait to watch the comp!!!!

Re: King of the Rim (Competition) 16&17 July
The Harris family have big plans for Scenic Rim Adventure Park. Cutting in new 4x4 tracks has always been a priority and during the past two weeks Brenden, Callum and our new staff member Clint have been working to create new tracks through the park but it all takes time, energy and expense to reach final goals.
Organising any new event especially something like the King of the Rim where we are increasing the area used throughout the park is extremely difficult to predict. We are trying to increase enjoyment not only for the 4x4 drivers but also for the spectators wanting to view an event.
Knowing numbers is a major part of organising any event. We know we have enough committed competitors to make this inaugural event a success. Entries will remain open but it helps enormously if we know numbers before Friday so the paperwork can be printed.
How many spectators will turn up we cannot predict but we are expanding the parking for spectators on the right hand side of the 2x2 entry road. We will have marshals directing people to parking areas.
Kareen is a professional events coordinator with years of experience and if people check out our website occasionally they will find out who our official sponsors are, Offroad Cartel Co are one of them.
We have a canteen run by the SES, Fairy floss, balloons and rides for the kids along with a couple of exhibitors.
There will be no private driving Friday or Saturday during the running of the event. Camping is limited at this event so if you intend camping please contact us immediately. We would hate to disappoint anyone
The park will be open Sunday for normal driving.

Spectator entry is only $10 ? And there are shuttles for spectators to get around the park? How often are these running?
Re: King of the Rim (Competition) 16&17 July
Had a talk to Warren from TMB in Beaudesert this morning (he will be manning the Maxxis stand this weekend). There will be discounts available to anyone who orders Maxxis tyres this saturday. Not sure of the actual % yet but I'm sure it will be worthwhile ordering this weekend if you are in need of a fresh set of rubber

Re: King of the Rim (Competition) 16&17 July
Spectators will be able to come and go as they please. We have wrist bands that have to be cut off to be removed so they can't be given to others. There is no longer a need for the shuttle bus as the tracks are within walking distance from the Car parks and office.
We have had a machine in last week and will be leaving on Thursday. There will be more comp tracks being made so the spectators will be right next to the action.
For the competitors the lower creek track is cleared and it is going to be an fun track. Unfortunatley spectators will not be permitted in that section as spectator safety is a concern that can not be overcome.
For those who are coming for the day you don't need to worry about bringing food. The SES are providing a food tent.

Re: King of the Rim (Competition) 16&17 July
If you are interested in camping i would book a site as we are running out of the lower area camp sites. The top ridge sites are still ok. There will be movement restrictions on camp sites 9,10,11&12 around 11am-4pm. These camp sites must have working UHF radios.

Re: King of the Rim (Competition) 16&17 July
I wont be there to help out but our Beauy SES unit is doing all the food so there is going to be your usual bbq food plus cakes, donuts and drinks and the like. Its a really good fundraiser for us (lets be honest, its getting harder and harder to afford a decent high classed escort that will do those sorts of things with gerbils theses days) so you folk have been looking skinny of late
Re: King of the Rim (Competition) 16&17 July
Three days till we hit the road Southbound!! Can't wait for this one!
It sounds like a great venue, great cars and great people!! All you could want for some Offroad entertainment!!
Only question - is there a big jump for these winch/mod trucks to show off their suspension??!!

Competitors who have car trailers will be camping on site one and two unless previously booked.
Sites 4, 5A and 5 are for the SES canteen exhibitors and kids entertainment.
Site 7, 8 and top half of 6 are booked out.
We still have some places on site 3 and up along the ridgeline.
We are also opening the grassed paddock area on the right as you enter for camping and spectator parking

The Friday driving will be track driving and inspecting / scrutineering.
The viewing spot is in 3 areas as you can see all the action on the new playground area.
