what free wheel hubs can i use

put in a part time kit in my 80 gxl and it came with avm hubs what to use factory toyota ones instead, a solid axle hi lux will fit but wondering if early ifs will be the same or from a 75 ute will fit.

hi mate all solid axle toyota will fit. ifs wont as im pretty sure all of them a 27 spline. all the rest a 30. 75 series will fit for certain. im running 60 on myne just waiting for my viscious coupling for my box.

what year model 80 do you have ?
you will need to check the drive spline length they went to a longer spline end of 92 -93 i think ,same time as 16 inch wheels and big brakes and 4.5 were introduced
this was to try and stop spline wear in the full time models
all part time models ran the shorter spline
see what you have then work out if you need to cut your cv's and re-grove them
you can get spacers but i would not recommend them as they weaken the already weak link of your cone washer stud set up

In the process of doing mine at the momment, i just bought 1hzj75 hubs, no problems.

I have solid axle lux ones on my 80..

It was 94-95 that the 80's came with longer cv's. NOT when they updated motors, as mine was 4.5 with the short cv's. BUT even if u have an 80 with the long cv's, u can cut 5mm off the end of the cv stub with a grinder and then put a new groove round the cv shaft with the grinding blade for the c clip... is a piece of piss to do!

Thanks guys yep mines late 94 4.5 petrol with 16 inch rims, kit came with the spacers to go on the end of the cv will chase down some factory ones second hand

I've fininshed mine & yep axles too long being a 97 model, does anyone know of a toyota hub that will fit or do i have to cut the axles back?
