Rear axel stud upgrade for a 75

Post by ash89 »

After going through bout 6 cv's it the last 12 months i have finally broken something different. On a trip on the weekend the rear axel studs went bang, destroying the rear hub at the same time. Looking for advice on how to upgrade, i have heard that the best option is going with 100 series studs, looking for advice from anyone that has had this problem and overcome it .

Cheers Ash

I've seen quite a few drilled and tapped and used high tensile bolts to hold the axle in. never seen one of these fail or cause issues.

Have a read of this link. Beware that the stubs can work lose with out the cone washer. I use 3/8 cup head bolts in mine with locktie keeping them in.
