Thanks.... This year did run very smooth, I must say. A credit to all that were involved.DIRTY ROCK STAR wrote:wouldnt you be better sinking your hard earned into rock racing?Tuff Events wrote:Webbie wrote:rock crawling isnt dead just looks different throught different events, as TTC now looks like rock crawling when we first started it, the reason it died was varied but the fact that thier was not entry level class had a lot to do with it............................................................blah blah blah this ruling actually mirrors that of the old rock crawling rules
Adding again to that. "rock crawling is dead"
I'd like to think of it more like ready to come back from the dead.. as it will be back.
seems like better entertainment to me.
didnt sam promote the eastern creek and grafton events heavily? and i hear the crowds were disapointing.
rock crawling events seem to only draw the dedicated few in australia. people just wont turn up to watch buggys drive slow.
but back to the TTC rules, the more like a factory vehicle that entrants have to be the better IMO. maybe a poll should be done at the event. ask the punter what they think. buggy or truck? queer steer or not?
see what the people paying to watch think?
more promotion will only help the cause. get it on the radio or TV. billboards and stuff.
alot of people still dont know the event exists, these are the people you need to reach to grow the event to the next level? shopping centre displays maybe?
but a top job having the cops there in 2010. the event ran alot smoother.
Factory like vehicles have plenty of other events to go to. "Tuff Truck" is just that, not tuff factory vehicle. Why would anybody change a proven concept.
You can't deny that TT has been getting bigger each year. 2009 was the biggest year so far based on spectator numbers. 2010 was not as large, ( & for a good reason ) but it was a much better atmosphere created by the restrictions & police presence. The crowd numbers that we lost were ones that we really didn't want there!
With that said, its still drawing great crowds based on its current competing vehicles. Sure some whinge that they want more full bodies trucks back, but to me that would be sending us back to 2001 & 2002 which only drew 2-2500 people. the numbers increased as the event evolved.
A lot is happening next year that will put TT & rock crawling on the map. Taking it to Sydney, Brisbane & Melbourne in 2011. Different format of course, but definitely great for the industry.
Quote: didn't Sam promote the eastern creek and Grafton events heavily? and i hear the crowds were disappointing. No he did not. Where did you hear that? & what do you consider heavily promoted?
Rock crawling has never been promoted like TT, hence why no body can say conclusively that it is not entertaining enough! I do agree that eastern creek was one of the more boring ones, but it was very infant at that time. So it was just a stepping stone to bigger things! Sadly the promoters decided that they needed to concentrate on the own businesses & families. Which I appreciate, it takes a huge effort & commitment to run events.
I personally have witnessed some incredible entertainment watching rock crawling. I guess we shall see what happens in the near future.
Be rest assured that TTC2011 will be yet again an improvement in many ways. I really think we will get 45-50 competitors, there will be more kids activities, more promotion & increasing sponsors. Can't wait.
