transfer case 80 series wah

Post by kean80cruise »

Hi,

My poor 80 series has a major problem, its only 2wd!

The problem has been diagnosed as something in the transfer case.

I have been qouted $1000 to take it apart and rebuild it, then whatever is wrong with it i will have to buy parts etc.

My question is,

Is it easy to take out screw around with or whatever, or can I buy a reconditioned one or should i bite the bullet and get it done.
My concern is if they take it apart, its totally effed and i payed 500 bucvks for nothing.
any help would be appreciated or advise.

Thanks

Kean

300 for the transfer case? or 3000"? sorry i never bought one before.
Just wandering does it have to be a 80 series transfer case?
Can you drive the car without it if you take it out to repair?
How big is it and how do I know yours is working AND are they easy to install :D

More info would be much appreciated.

Open it up and have a look. Not too hard to do if not your daily driver. If its in the rear part maybe fitting a part time kit, 600 bucks max could be a fix if your lucky, If not its only taken a day of your time.
