Bell housing

Post by ShinyDiscoBalls »

Howdy,

This has probably been mentioned before but my bell housing is cracked and I was wondering if anyone knows where one can be bought?

Daihatsu have discontinued them and was told about a coy in Victoria called Dello Housings that makes aftermarket ones but can't find them anywhere on the net or in the White Pages online.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

By the way... I don't know how bad the crack is... will be looking at it tonight.

Cheers
Paul

Have you thought about getting it welded? Or is it beyond repair?

Legend! I knew I probably wasn't spelling it right. Will have a look at it tonight and post some pics to see what you guys think. Just have to find a place in Sydney that could possibly do the repair.

 Don't go getting too excited- I had a browse and they don't make anything to suit the Feroza that I could see.

Any engineering joint should be able to do aluminium welding for you.

Hi Paul,

From memory the feroza's gear box does not have a bellhousing that is seperate from the main case. I think its a one piece cast aluminim case. :?

If you cant get it welded, then try getting one from the wreckers and just mix and match all the best parts out of the two gear boxes. Using all new bearings of course. :D

good luck

Looks like you may be right rod... had a look at a back issue of $WD monthly that had the article on buying ferozas.

Theres a pic of a guy holdig up a box & transfer case and it looks like the bell housing is part of the gear box casing... hmmm :? :? :?

didnt get a chance to look at the crack as I got home at night.

The cars at the mechanic today gettin a service so will get under there tonight and have a look see....

Cheers

I Just took a look at my old trans laying on ground in the backyard the bell housing is one piece. Weld it mine was welded and i had no more problem with it wat killed the old one was i could not get the drive shaft to seal at the transfer case and was always having to add fluid. Guess I let it go to far one time and fraged the gears.
If I wanted to Play it safe I would Have Stayed at home
