Replacing head on GQ and Pertronix Q's

Post by ned »

hey
the head on my TB42 is gone so im going to buy a brand new head off ebay and replace it myself. but im unsure of what other items i should get. i know i need a new head gasket. but what about vavles, springs, stem seals, head bolts?
whats the process for replacing the head?

also, ive installed a pertronix and a bosch GT40R coil yet ive still got the low down stutter, slow response and bad fuel economy with the accompanying smell of unburnt fuel. ive drawn a picture of my current hookup of the setup, can you please check it out and see where ive gone wrong. my feeling is that somethings not quite getting the right amount of voltage.

cheers guys

Is it carby? Might be time for a rebuild and then a good tune up

which side is the right side? i think i have it on the side with the most amount of wires going to it.

no bottom end is fine. at one point i did have it running like a top with the pertronix and pertronix flame thrower 3ohm coil. then it suddenly started idling really high and dieseling at shut off.

I'm talking about rebuilding the carby, not your bottom end
