fit a part time kit and this will fix your problom unless you do more than 80ks in 4WD which you probally wont do anyway Mark do a kit for about $590. or you can use a transfer out of a DX model.

hi mine was the front aswell. mine was also vibrating at about 40 k ph before the double cardon and i figure if i need it off road probly better to do it this way as once your off road and in 4wd (with a 2wd adapter) your still stressing the unis and sooner or later there gonna snap.wouldnt want to be in a precarious possition when this happens. alchemist check that the face of the end ofthe shaft is absolutely flush against the face of the transfer case mine had a little bit of build up between it and was doing the same thing so i took it off and cleaned the face and it was all good or maybe they didnt replace your unis for $400 and they might be stuffed.
hi again im pretty unfamiliar with the part time setup and i was just having a thought and im thinking does the part time setup actually move the mounting of the shaft downwards therefore reducing the angle on the unis or does it still maintain the same angle as standard. coz i thought it would still be a problem off road if it has too much angle and chew out unis thanks wayne
Wayne the angle of the dangle stays thesame....just that the front shaft doesnt move till your hubs are in.muddy80s wrote:hi again im pretty unfamiliar with the part time setup and i was just having a thought and im thinking does the part time setup actually move the mounting of the shaft downwards therefore reducing the angle on the unis or does it still maintain the same angle as standard. coz i thought it would still be a problem off road if it has too much angle and chew out unis thanks wayne
If you get a dx transfer, you can run a PTO winch off it...

Im over it now,. jsut gunna go part time
a grave dig i know, i just put a 4" kit in mine and have the suspected vibrations, i was looking at putting a double cardon joint in but as stated they never last, would a CV tail shaft be a more longer lasting option??
Ill look at doing a part time kit later on down the track.

Re: Re:
I rekon just do the part time now, and put a double cardon on later. Won't cost you anymore, and will be the better setup. The double cardon will last alot longer when it's not being used on the road.evanstaniland wrote:crankycruiser wrote:I put a double cardon in mine.. they never last long even with regular greasing.. ive had mine rebuilt a couple of times now..

The worst part about being told you have Alzheimer's, is that it doesn't just happen once.
Re: 80 series double cardon
How do you get around the ABS as the sensors are on the front CV's? Or do you leave the standard hub flanges on instead of the free wheeling hubs?dow50r wrote:muddy80s wrote:hi again im pretty unfamiliar with the part time setup and i was just having a thought and im thinking does the part time setup actually move the mounting of the shaft downwards therefore reducing the angle on the unis or does it still maintain the same angle as standard. coz i thought it would still be a problem off road if it has too much angle and chew out unis thanks wayne

Re: 80 series double cardon
Has anyone put the marks kit in? what is the difference between the Marks kit and the 4wd systems one?
what happens to the front ABS? does the light stay on the dash constantly?

Re: 80 series double cardon
If you fit free wheeling hubs the ABS will be disabled & the light will stay on until the hubs are locked. This will also make your vehicle illegal & may also result in insurance claim rejection.
Re: 80 series double cardon

Re: 80 series double cardon
search Pirate4x4 for the tech pages on driveshafts and CV joints(Double Cardon).evanstaniland wrote:what problems did you have with your DC joints?
They wear quickly, dont increase the flex available in the drive shaft, can actually reduce it, and in a mostly std, but lifted 80series they will still be likely to vibrate to some extent. They are a bandaid solution.

Re: 80 series double cardon
Like 80_D said, they just didnt last, they are just a bandaid fix. Once i put the Cranky link in the front of mine it didnt have enuf angle either..evanstaniland wrote:what problems did you have with your DC joints?
Contratry to popular belief, u can get more angle out of a std CV than the Double cardon

Re: 80 series double cardon
is there any option that can be done without stuffing up the ABS? whats the point of buying a car with safety features to disable them?
also does anyone know the difference between the marks kit and the 4wd systems kit?
would these be worth the $1700?
