leaf spring swap on a 47 series
G'day all, Is there anybody out there who can tell me if i am able to put a set of 60 series rear leaf packs on the front and the rear, as they are supposed to be longer and i have extended shackles that i believe are standing too straight causing a bit of a rough ride. ( not that they are comfy anyway) my vehicle is a 1983 hj47 ute. Thanks
Re: leaf spring swap on a 47 series
I think an easier and better swap might be 75 series springs. The utes have longer springs than shorties in the rear and 75 rear springs are longer than 60 rears. Measure some up and see what you reckon. You will move your front diff forward a couple of inches which will need addressing with a spacer or lengthened shaft, not sure where the rear diff will end up. Personally I would look at flipping the rears which would improve departure.

The rear leaves will be about 8-10 past the cab on a shorty. I had 75's spring's front and rear in my 40 shorty, rear's had too be shortened and rerolled, rear hang was flipped and had longer shackles

Re: leaf spring swap on a 47 series
They're going on a 47 ute so the extra length should be ok as the utes have longer rears than shorties don't they?

Re: leaf spring swap on a 47 series
I have 75 rears at home and they are about 100mm longer than my 60 rears from memory. It would be worth a look. The other thing is on a ute it would be pretty easy to move the mount back a bit to accomdate them if you had to.
