coils all round on nav d21

Post by meataxe »

well went on a trip with some mates the other day in some pretty un level and rutted gorund and found the old nav was getting wheels up everywhere and loosing traction.I was following a mate in a gq troll and noticed he had no probs as all 4 wheels stayed on the gorund. Now i have the idea of coil all round in the nav but not sure if this is possable or just a silly idea.the prob i have with the nav is its stiff as and feels like im driving a skateboard.is there any way 2 improve this any ideas?

All you can do (budget wise) is get the rear end to do the articulating, longer shocks, different spring rates and sway bar removal/disconnected etc etc. The Nav has independent front suspension and they don't flex real well in the front. Really the best you can do with it is remove/disconnect the sway bar. What you propose can be done, but at great expense and time designing and building it then getting it engineered.

Diff locks will help you, as when wheels the air the other will still be driving.
Converting to coils all round can be done, can you do the work yourself ? Could get fairly exspensive to have shop do it for you.
Could alway use a patrol chassis, running gear and put your navara shell on top
Anything is possible, it just comes down to time and money.

Better off investing in lockers then it doesn't matter if you lift a wheel. An IFS Navara is never going to flex as well as a coil sprung live axle car so don't even bother trying to match it unless you have good fabrication skills or want to put a fair bit of money in it
