How do you bench teast an auto locker?

Post by ausyota »

I have a detroit that I thought was stuffed but now it was probbably just a CV.
Whats the go?
Chuck the centre in a vice and some axles in either side and then what?
Should the axle only turn one way and lock the other way?

Also has anyone got a good exploded diagram of a Hilux detroit locker?
I have another one I pulled to bits and I didnt realise how many bits were inside now Im worried about getting it all back together right.

From my understanding, one (either) wheel can turn faster than the input and the centre will drive the slower axle. What should happen on the bench is when turning the housing, both axle splines should turn with it and one (only one at a time) can "overrun" it. That's how it was explained to me anyway, hope that helps.

Badmav is correct. The detroit allows one wheel to overun the other but not be driven faster.

Should be all the info you need.
