80 series Swivel hub/knuckle pull scale tension

Post by TheBigBoy »

I need some advice from the pro's on here about setting up the correct tension for my hubs on the 80 series. With a knuckle pull scale, what tension should they be for running 35" muddies. I have never known the correct tension to shim it and just guessed in the past. Making both sides the same.

Im getting older and wiser these days though and would like to know how to correctly shim and set them up. Any other advice would be great aswell. Thanks Mark

Anywhere between 2.5 and 4.5kg of force after overcoming inertia.

In reality though, provided you don't mess up the shims there won't need to be any adjustment.

Some people do recommend you shim them up to help with wobbles on some tires, but I think that if you intend to drive on the highway, then run a decent mud tyre that is balanced properly. With a good tire, factory specs are fine on an 80 series

I usually aim for 8 to 10 pounds of pull until the hub starts moving.

How can anyone take that seriously with that avatar?
