It is dissapointing you could not get the products when you wanted them.
Unfortunately we had way more interest in the shocks than we expected and we were left short of stock many times.

We have been trying to get WA shops to hold Stock for us to save time on delivery but the shops just wait for orders from customers then send the order from us.
If their were more WA shops with stock we could have pointed you to them but unfortunately their was not.

There was no reason why dealing with you guys direct shouldn't have worked.

Over a 3 week period, i was told 3 times that my shocks had been sent and were on their way.
On the 4th enquiry i was told that no, my shocks hadn't been sent, but you were setting the valving and sending them off that afternoon.
2 weeks later another enquiry and i'm told that you're out of stock, and i'll have to wait for the next shipment to arrive.

Yeah right, i reckon you got a more important customer.

Funny thing is, i'd still have a set of them SRC shocks, coz they're the only product of their kind for Patrols, coz i ended up with a lesser shock.
I do remember this order and i think from memory we had a few customers waiting a long time for their shocks , you included and we had to give the shocks to another customer that had been waiting longer, i do not know why you would have been told they were sent but , that would have been a Sales man's error/ mis communication
I do not say there are more "important" customers as all our customers are important to us, it's just been unfortunate that there was a customer waiting longer, i would hope if the placeing was revesed you would feel you should get them first.
Any way PM sent to you with an offer for you that i am sure you will be happy with. :)

Thanks for the great offer, it was actually Chris from Loktup who was making the frustrated phone calls, so i'll be sure to drop in on him with a carton so he can enjoy too.

The SRC's sound good and would be a lot easier to fit but i want more travel and do they really compare to a triple bypass?

No they do not compare to triple bypass shocks but neither does the price, and if you are doing anything but high speed racing you would waste your money on triple bypass shocks because you will be happy with a Remote res shock for half the price and that is valved and fitted in standard mounts.

teal shackles.

The src shocks have some of the best extension to compression ratio going around. The king/fox/radflo/foa/fade runners etc. only give longer travel not shorter compression. unless you are running a huge lift (unstable for high speed) youll have anything over a 14 inch 2.5 shock out of the bonnet.

remember for fast shit you will need decent uptravel aswell so extending the bumpstops several inches isnt an option. and if you bottom out the shock its gonna cost alot more for a rebuild on a brand name shock than it will on a superior shock.
turbos are nice but i'd rather be blown

I have a GQ SWB and i want a shock for high speed race off road.
The src will be good for me?Its made for put up with the high speed?
It will not need two shocks per corner?Just a 2,5" shock and i am thinking a hydraylic bump stop?
What spring do you suggest?

I've been having problems with the rear diff lock not unlocking so i pulled it out on thursday night to see what was wrong and i'm surprised it was still driving, the locker was smashed to bits! Broken teeth and metal everywhere and it didn't make a noise, i'll try and get photo's up. While it was off the road I got my long arm kit in on the weekend, hopefully get the new centre today so it will be back on the road.

Sorry i have been a bit late to reply as i have been pretty busy with work at the end of the year.

The best shock on the market is a bit of a broad question and a personnal opinion as you really need to be explaining what you are after exactly, the exact setup you are going to run eg , standard geometry or long arms on the rear , A-frame , triangulated links , coil overs, weight of the vehicle, height of the vehicle and so many other factors.

I cannot say what the" best " spring is on the market because there are brands out there i have not had personnal experience with .
I have sold and used EFS, KINGS, Dobinson, Tough Dog, Lovells and they all have there good and bad points.

Most of our kits either get EFS or Dobinson by our personnal choice, EFS micro alloy coils seem to be very good.

My personal opinion is if the shocks are setup correctly, any of these brands will be okay if you fit the correct rate coil to suit the weight and purpose of the vehicle.

The benefit of shocks such as SRC R-series and SRC-S-series are we can valve then to suit your truck and your coils by simply changing the shims/ low speed/DFV Valve and gas pressures where simple shocks such as dobinson, tough dog, efs, rancho ect are you get what you are given even though some are adjustable they will never ride as good as a properly adjusted shocks that is done through the valving and Gas pressure.
Also another point to remember is that remote res shocks will always outperform a conventional shock hands down due to having Zero oil foaming due to the design of a remote res.

What you must also remember with shocks is conventional shocks that are sold in the millions are to suit the "average truck" and the ride will always be different between mates vehicles if one has a heavy coil and the next truck has a light coil due to no accessories so thats why paying the extra means you will get a better ride and longer service out of your shocks.

Sorry after all that post i didn't say what the best coil is but i dont think there is a "best coil" only a coil that will suit your setup when applied correctly.

We had Dan "THE PARTS MAN" coming up to cruiser park the same weekend Carnage Canyon was but it was flooded out, Last weekend he had organised for another function and now christmas this weekend i would say it will be 2 weeks time.
The rain has been a fare pain in the arse to try and get some good footage as you can appreciate you cannot get any good high speed video when you are driving in rain and mud .

We have part of the video completed showing the fitup of the SRC R-series as we pulled out fox shocks to compare the SRC R-series and i am very confident they will out handle the Fox shocks and this is from other feedback that guys have changed from fox to SRC R-series because they wanted a better ride.
We are also getting Close to releasing the new SRC S-series shocks that feature the DVF valve for the ultimate of comfort and this will be early to mid 2011 after we get the valving 100% right, so far its only Prado we have have ready for release in January.

i have got a set of the superior remote res shocks on my gu ute and love em. its lifted 4 inches on dobinsosns and used mainly for long hauling through the Pilbara. still got both sway bars, drop boxes. drive through the night for 4 hours down corrogations at $1.25 with not a drama. big washouts, cattle, doesn't matter it always feels composed. But when its time for fun, i can haul ass down the scraper curcuit after work getting mildly airbourne and doing 4wd powerslides though the greasy corners or try and get up the oversize stockpile (big rocks trees and shit pushed up when clearing). it's not the best flex out there but thats the setup not the shocks. As soon as you want to make it into a lowrange warrior you will lose most of your high speed stability and composure, sure it will do it but there will be a few bite marks in the seats. However a good high speed stable setup will still work well in low range, in my opinion. Plus a high speed setup will be nice on the road. My opinion, for price the SRC are a great allrounder. Even on the HWY they are nice with the ute loaded up and the boat intow. But i will never understand how everything from queensland takes 3-4 weeks to get here. I can get shit from the states in 7 working days for the same freight cost.

At the end of they day you need to build what you want. I couldn't get anyone in Perth to help me (without raping my wallet) so i had to do it myself, saved thousands too.

Cheers
Dave

Has anyone fit 2.5" bypass shocks in the rear of a patrol without moving the cross member that the shocks originally mount to?
