Dyno run.
Dyno run.
Just put my patrol on the dyno today and got 124hp @ 12psi and I want to know what other people have gotten.Mine is a 4.2 td with after market turbo. I just want to see if its about right for this motor.
GU Nissan Patrol. 4" lift, Schwitzer turbo,3" Exhaust, rock sliders,winch,33" Maxxis bighorns, Duel Batteries, Rolla draws.
Re: Dyno run.
td42t (no cooler) 149hp 12psi 690nm on 35mtz's tuned by brisbane dyno
TIP RAT RACING!!!!!!! CUSTOMIZING PANELS
Re: Dyno run.
Brisbane Dyno are now good mate there is no way to make that amount of power at the wheels out of 12 psi on 35s you need to go elsewhere for your dyno work. I am running mine unintercooled on 14 psi and made 130hp at the wheels with 35s
Re: Dyno run.
troy 76 thats numbers sound about right
Re: Dyno run.
troy i got 145hp @12psi, larger top mount, std turbo, 3in zorst on 33's. northside 4x4 did that for me. there good and tell no bullshit!
Re: Dyno run.
I don't own a TD42, but just doing some maths on it.
At 4000rpm, 12psi boost, 80% VE, 18:1 AFR no intercooler etc etc
I reckon you can do about 170hp at the crank (126kw).
At 2000rpm you'd get about 400Nm at the crank.
You can go richer (hotter) at the expense of smoke and a potential melt-down or fit an intercooler to get more.
So yeah, 124hp at the wheels is about right with a sensible tune.

Re: Dyno run.
124hp is about right but the Nm referred to is probably wheel torque ,no way is it flywheel NmKiwiBacon wrote:I don't own a TD42, but just doing some maths on it.

Re: Dyno run.
Not a heck of alot of point comparing different dynos, too many variables.
Just look at the before and after results and then decide with the seat of your pants if your happy with the improvment... if not add more

Re: Dyno run.
WOW mine peeked at 3400 rpm. What was your exhaust temps like with 13psi.

Re: Dyno run.
If I may ask, how much does hi-flowing a turbo cost?ETU47 wrote:my turbo has been hi-flowed and the pump has been . with i will put dyno sheet up soonETU47 wrote:td42t (no cooler) 149hp 12psi 690nm on 35mtz's tuned by brisbane dyno
99 Nissan Terrano II TDi, 2" lift, 30's, UHF, Hellas, Bull Bar
Re: Dyno run.
Exhaust temps were good thats why we didn't push it any higher, also they said it would use a lot more fuel for little gain.
Re: Dyno run.
So how many rpm does the km/h on that plot equate to?
Re: Dyno run.
Not sure as I changed Diff Ratios from 3.9 to 4.3s soon after that Dyno run so it needs to get back on the Dyno to see what it's doing now.KiwiBacon wrote:So how many rpm does the km/h on that plot equate to?
Re: Dyno run.
The scale on that torque curve is out by a lot.
If the max power of 134hp is at 4000rpm then you're producing 236 Nm there. The graph shows 600 at that point.
But if you can work out the rpm you can get it more accurate than that.

I always gotta chip in...
SD33T with 15psi and boost comp mod
Thoughts KiwiBacon?

Re: Dyno run.
Looks quite good. Torque figures are about what they should be so no-one is playing silly-buggers with the dyno settings. Those SD33's must breathe quite well to provide 118kw on 15psi, it looks to do better at higher rpm than I expected.84mksd33t wrote:Thoughts KiwiBacon?

We modified the spring in the boost compensator to allow more fuel earlier to get the GT28 to play nicer. Picked up 20rwkw from that.
Barely a puff of smoke either.
I would expect it to make even more power with a few PSI more boost.
Cheers!

Oh and credit to the owner for setting the intercooler up
Re: Dyno run.
Aha, intercooled too. I didn't pick that earlier.84mksd33t wrote:GT2860RS, Frozen Boost cooler, 3" intake piping, 3" exhaust.KiwiBacon wrote:Looks quite good. and from my experiance. Snap there goes a crank!!!. But that is pretty good from an old SD i must say!!

Re: Dyno run.
whats the drive line loss % in a gq with 35's. just a rough idea i was thinking as high as 30%
Re: Dyno run.
dynod with 35 with 4.3 diffs. 268hp. 760nm of torque.. 150cc of fuel, 30psi boost. with cooler. custom turned ehxaust mainfold, dump 3inch exhaust. hycloned, fitting laminova soon.. also just put new motor in with inlet plenum, enhaust bored out. twin valve springs. 100%balnced. HPC coated pistons.. custom made clutch.
i am still in run in perioid for new motor.

Re: Dyno run.
lol iv been running 25 - 30 psi for 2 years now started at 20 psi 6 years ago on a motor with that had 300 odd k's onit now got 570 odd and still hauling it these things and rock solid as long as you service it me every 5000 with good oilHas anyone snaped a crank? I don`t know of one..
it will go or it will blow
Re: Dyno run.
You would't be pushing more than 75rwkw though....xenith wrote:lol iv been running 25 - 30 psi for 2 years now started at 20 psi 6 years ago on a motor with that had 300 odd k's onit now got 570 odd and still hauling it these things and rock solid as long as you service it me every 5000 with good oilHas anyone snaped a crank? What oil do you use?
stock turbo?
Re: Dyno run.
We run plenty of hp and have never heard of broken crank!! Are u aware of any yourself of have you just been told by some one?Just interested because we have had a bunch of them from full rebuilds (black head na motors) to 300000k silvers all up over 170rwhp some up to 290rwhp and better. When someone says in my expirence they brake cranks and the crank in a td42 is SOOO strong I`d just like to know weather it was directly related or weather it was hearsay of caused by bad balencer or mabey failed bearing?Sometimes more power can make a weak point fail.I guess I`m respectfully asking for more info on your sourse.Def not having a go Also going a bit mad from being stuck around house(wet weather).
